Senior Recruiting and Kickoff Event:

An event occurring at the beginning of the fall semester, the Senior Kickoff Event is an opportunity for Californians to get seniors jazzed up about their senior year at Cal. This event is organized and planned by the senior class.

Sushi Social

An event that takes place during homecoming week, the sushi social is an evening with good food (sushi of course) along with the opportunity to network between Cal alumni and current Cal students.

1868 Cal Ave

An event that takes place during Homecoming Week. 1868 Cal Ave is an event where campus student groups welcome back alumni by hosting a pre-game celebration festivity that music, carnival, and a variety of food stands. The Californians will be selling food and showcasing our club at this event

Cal 101 Part II: *** In the Planning Stages***

This is a new event that will be taking place sometime in early November. The goal of this event will be to provide new Freshman an opportunity to hear from seniors about their experiences at UC Berkeley so that they can better enrich there experience. Some topics that the senior panel will cover include discussion on what they did at Berkeley they enjoyed, didn’t enjoy, what they wish they would have done, what things helped them get through college, what things should students look for (as in campus events), etc.

December Graduates Convocation

An event for over 2,800 seniors that complete their studies in the fall, Californians works with the University and California Alumni Association to plan the ceremony in the Zellerbach Playhouse and reception that follows. The highlight of the ceremony is the keynote speaker, traditionally given by a prestigious alumnus. Last December the Mayor of Oakland Jerry Brown was invited by the Californians to deliver the keynote address.

Career Networking Seminar

Come meet top professionals and hear their advice on how to network in a variety of Industries. Learn the “Art of Chit-Chat” and turn small talk into big opportunities through career networking. There are about thirty to forty professionals there and students have the chance to find a mentor, potential job openings, and internships. The purpose of the networking seminar is to help students learn valuable networking skills while interacting with Alumni.

Cal 101 Student Panel

A panel of students representing all facets of Berkeley life share their insights, practical advice, and own personal perspectives on life at Cal with hundreds of current and prospective students during Cal Day

Senior Week

A week of fun filled activities planned by the senior branch. It is the last chance for seniors to enjoy themselves before they embark onto their different paths in life. Past Events planned include a Blue & Gold Cruise Party on the SF Bay, baseball game at PacBell Park, Paint the Big C, and Senioritis Carnival.

May Commencement

Occurring in May, seniors from all academic disciplines celebrate their graduation from UC Berkeley. A Commencement Convocation Keynote Speaker will be selected by the Californians. Past Keynote speakers include ABC Anchor Ted Kopel, Actor Bill Cosby, and Secretary of State Madeline Albright.

Sweatshirt Sales!

Class of 2008 sweatshirts are on sale Tuesdays and Wednesdays 11AM-2PM on Upper Sproul in front of the Cal Student Store.

The sweatshirt comes in navy blue and heather gray and in sizes small to extra-large. Each sweatshirt costs $40 and only cash and checks are accepted. Be sure get yours soon before they're gone!
